Meet Patrice Daglis — Mum to Sofia, beauty aficionado, and a true sunshine seeker. With a background rooted in Mauritian-Australian heritage and a love for slow, intentional living, Patrice blends her passion for beauty with a deep appreciation for everyday rituals that nourish both body and soul. Whether she’s exploring rockpools with her daughter or savouring a moment of peace by the sea, Patrice believes in the power of simple pleasures and taking time to recharge.
One of her non-negotiables on any beach day? Our extra-large Salted sand-free towel — spacious enough for sharing, easy to shake off, and always packed for their sun-soaked adventures. Watching her enjoy sunny days with Sofia reminds us that even the busiest mums deserve time to pause, connect, and feel present.
1. What makes the beach an ideal place for mothers to unwind and find a moment of peace?
There is something special about the beach that helps me relax, unwind and recharge my batteries. My daughter and I love building sandcastles and playing in the rockpools finding shells or "treasures" and whilst I am technically still in Mum mode, they are peaceful connecting moments, which I love.
2. What simple rituals can mothers incorporate during solo beach moments to maximise relaxation? The practice of beach meditation is incredible for your overall health. Focusing on closing your eyes and listening to the sounds of the waves crashing is so calming. Doing this coupled with some breathwork, is the absolute best way to start the day. It's not something I am able to do at home every day but when we go on our beachside trips to Noosa/QLD and Country Victoria it's something I love to do. |

3. For those who can’t get to the beach often, how can they bring the essence of the ocean into their daily routine?
There are certain skincare and body/bath products that remind me of the beach and sea-side holidays. There is a specific body oil that I use on holidays post beach and on the days when I use it, it always makes me feel calm, just like I do when I am on holidays by the ocean.
4. How does embracing solitude (even in small moments) benefit both mothers and their families?
Alone time is very important, even pottering around in an empty house is enough sometimes! Moments of solitude improve my creativity and give me a chance to charge my batteries. I know I am a more present and happier Mum when I take some time to be alone.
5. How can a solo beach visit become a regular self-care habit rather than a rare escape?
I often wish I lived closer to a beach, my background is Mauritian Australian (Mother was born in Mauritius) a small island in the Indian Ocean off the southeastern coast of East Africa, near Madagascar. My mother's upbringing was centred around waking up on a beach every day, her life there sounded so beautiful. Whilst I can't commit to going to the beach every day, I walk a lot so even walking along the coastline more often in Melbourne to smell the sea air would be incredible.
